There has been a lot of bad press about Apex lately. Pro players voiced their concerns before the start of the ALGS Championship, many of who were denied visas to participate in the competition
Now, players are distraught with the constant bugs and slow patches. Even with the release of the Summer Sundown sale, it is apparent that the developers have paid more attention to aesthetics than fixing the myriad bugs.
Due to the blatant disregard by Respawn Entertainment after several complaints, players are calling for a boycott. One player took to Reddit to demand that Respawn fix the game after sharing a video where he experienced sync issues.
After several other players started to complain of the same, it was suggested that they show their frustration by effecting a significant drop in player count.
While many have welcomed the “No Apex August” campaign, others think it is ridiculous. Although the goal is to boycott Apex with Season 14 commencing sometime in August to force Respawn to pay attention, many are not willing to participate.
Regardless of the heated debate on several social media platforms, there has been no comment from the developers. It remains to be seen if these bugs will be fixed soon.
Meanwhile, Respawn has continued with the ALGS, which started on July 7. The group stage has been played to a conclusion, with the top 20 teams advancing to the winners’ bracket while the remaining 20 teams will start the bracket stage in the losers’ round 1.
FURIA Esports had the best record in the group stage. Despite being third at the end of the first two rounds, a 68-point Round 3 bumped them up to first place with 176 total points.
OpTic Gaming had a poor showing in Round 3, essentially losing their place atop of the standings. They are currently ranked third behind EXO Clan.
All 40 participants are still in the fight for a larger share of the $2 million prize pool. The offline event, which is being held at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, will be played to its conclusion on July 10.
The first team that wins a match after they are “Match Point Eligible” in the finals will be announced as the winner. To be “Match Point Eligible,” teams have to reach at least 50 points in the finals.
