The UK esports organization, EXCEL Esports has revealed the launching of its new Headquarters, in central London. The XL HQ marks a major turning point in the company’s expansion by establishing an overwhelming 5,660 square-foot gaming facility. EXCEL had mentioned that they would build their London headquarters near Fnatic, which received $17 million last summer through funding.
The 5,660 square-foot structure contains production studios, streaming rooms, and space for EXCEL’s community, team members, supporters, partner organizations, and the gaming industry as a whole. The new headquarters, according to EXCEL, will serve as a hub for the UK gaming industry and a base from which to expand to the rest of Europe.
The organization has indicated, nonetheless, that it wishes to stay fully accessible in terms of how the new facility is used, emphasizing that it was created “by gamers, for gamers.”
Speaking at its opening event, Wouter Sleijffers, Chief Executive Officer of EXCEL ESPORTS, included that the facility holds a lot of potentials.
“We’re open to ideas [about how to use the space] but there aren’t necessarily plans,” Sleijffers said. “We want to remain open-minded and let the community and other UK businesses determine that. It’s a space where esports is happening, not just an office.”
EXCEL also announced major promotion rearrangement made in the leadership order of the company, owing to its new headquarters in Shoreditch, London.
EXCEL Esports’ Director, Tim Reichert, has been promoted to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). Whilst, Oskar Sisi will be moved from Creative Director to Marketing and Brand Director.
Reichert said the COO promotion feels almost natural and easy to commit. He went on to commend the staff community within EXCEL, stating that they are the reason behind his confidence. He also vowed to make the staff and talent within the company attain their best heights.
“Moving from Esports Director to COO feels like a natural development and it feels easy to commit to the role. I also have to say, I actually love the people working at EXCEL, they are very talented people.”
“This also gave me a lot of confidence to move forward as I know I’m surrounded by strong people, both in the management team and the rest. I think my most important responsibility as the COO is to make sure that our staff and our talent can be the best version of themselves.”
Oskar, who recently worked as a creative director on the XL playoffs, handed away limited edition products through various challenges and became a means to engage with EXCEL talent and LEC casters. Hundreds of individuals from all around the world are taking part in the event.
As a marketing manager, Sisi will see his responsibilities expand to EXCEL’s marketing activities, concentrating on developing the company’s community using compelling and industry-leading content.
Sisi spoke about his promotion, stating that he had already been a part of the team’s marketing campaigns. While he spoke about his excitement for his new role, he shared the importance of the role to him.
“Actually, I have already been sharing some of the marketing responsibilities with the team in our most recent projects and campaign launches,” Sisi said. “The marketing and brand department is important to me because it shows our focus. For us, marketing is the way we communicate and what we do for our community. I’m super excited to do it!”
Sisi also stated that an incredible announcement about a new content producer joining EXCEL’s talent pool will be made at the beginning of June.
With new industry-leading alliances in Just Eat and JD Sports, the advancement of its content creator family, and now the establishment of its formal London headquarters, XL HQ. EXCEL has witnessed considerable growth in all parts of its business over the past 12 months.
EXCEL promises to continue to strengthen its competitive advantages while expanding and fostering its British and worldwide communities in the future. EXCEL plans to intensify its growth by focusing on content development and the creative economy through new projects and strategic collaborations.
