JD Gaming have announced the addition of two League of Legends players to their roster ahead of the 2023 LPL season.
With the LPL transfer window starting to heat up following the signings of Top Esports, JD Gaming have added former Gen.G superstar Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk to their bot lane. The franchise also signed the recently released TES mid laner Zhuo “knight” Ding, who was earlier replaced by former Victory Five star player Song “Rookie” Eui-jin.
The franchise took to their Twitter page to announce the additions to their League of Legends roster as they look forward to getting the best out of them.
“Welcome JDG.@RulereluR!” the post read.
“The former @GenG botlaner officially joins JDG and we look forward to fighting together in the new season.
#JDGwin #LPL #LCK”
“Welcome JDG.Knight,” the franchise tweeted.
“The former @TOP_Esports_ midlaner officially joins JDG. We’re ready for the rift.
#JDGwin #MakeItReal”
While knight will be replacing JD’s former resident mid laner Zeng “Yagao” Qi, who has been with the team for five years, Ruler will be the team’s starting ADC in the 2023 LPL season. After multiple years as shining stars for their respective teams, the Korean ADC and Knight have both decided to move on.
Last month, the Korean ADC made the decision to become a free agent last month, bidding farewell to the organization that helped him become a champion in 2017. Although Gen.G were the first seed in the LCK, they found it difficult to advance to the League of Legends World Championship, after suffering a 1-3 loss to DRX in the semifinals.
Gen.G, however, defeated top team T1 with a clean sweep to clinch the 2022 LCK Summer Split, securing an act of revenge over the franchise that had stopped them from winning the Spring Split.
On the other hand, Knight announced his departure from TES after spending four years with the team. TES had one of the poorest international performances this year, having struggled and failed to qualify for the Knockout stage at the Worlds tournament.
JD Gaming have created a dream team ahead of the 2023 season, with their final two signings. The seven-man team now consists of knight, Ruler, Bai “369” Jia-Hao, Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok, Wang “Hope” Jie, Lou “Missing” Yunfeng, and substitute Chen “Yimeng” Mingyong.
369, their top laner, who was a standout performer last year for the team has a contract valid until 2023. The starting jungler, Kanavi who has been with the team since 2019 extended his contract, while Missing will remain as the starting support, with his contract set to reach an end (pending renewal) in 2024.
Despite the salary cap restrictions in the Chinese league, JD Gaming is determined to make 2023 their year. Their goal to become LPL champions and, ultimately, win the World Championship, seems feasible with their all-star roster.
