The first game of the round of six in the LPL 2022 Spring Playoffs brings us a BO5 series between the fourth seed LNG Esports (LNG) and the fifth seed Top Esports (TES). LNG were spared going through the round of eight as they finished with a +1 map difference over Top Esports and Weibo Gaming who both finished 11-5 leaving them in fifth and sixth and having to go through the round of eight first. Top Esports took care of business in their round of eight match running out 3-1 winners against Bilibili Gaming and moving on to the round of six.
LNG Esports finished off their regular season with three straight victories over LGD Gaming, Edward Gaming and OMG, dropping just two maps over those three series, all but assuring them that coveted top four spot. Throughout the 2022 Spring Split, LNG has shown that they are more than capable to beat the bottom few teams convincingly. However, they have struggled to claim a major scalp from the top three teams losing all of their series against RNG, Victory Five and JD Gaming. It is not all bad for LNG though. They possess one of the best mid-lane and AD carry combos in the LPL with their mid-laner, Kim ‘Doinb’ Tae-sang, and AD carry, Wang ‘Light’ Guang-Yu. Both ‘Doinb’ and ‘Light’ have been outstanding and very influential for LNG, with ‘Light’ compiling the best KDA for the whole LPL Spring Split with a massive 7.8 KDA. Whereas for ‘Doinb’, he has amassed a similarly great KDA, although not in the top five for the split, of 4.8 and participating in nearly 80% of LNG’s kills for the entire split. If LNG are going to beat Top Esports in this series, these two players are going to have to keep up their outstanding form and once again carry LNG to victory.

On the other side of the map we have fifth-placed Top Esports. TES had one of the more insane finishes to split that we have seen. They were able to rattle off nine wins out of their last ten games only dropping their third to last game against Invictus Gaming 2-1, where TES were clearly not at their best on the day. Outside of that little blip on their record, TES have not lost a series since week four of the split. On the resume of TES though, is a very nice 2-1 win over JD Gaming, which combined with their 2-1 victory over LNG Esports when they last met in week seven, will give them a lot of confidence heading into the playoffs. TES also have a well-known AD carry in Yu ‘JackeyLove’ Wen-Bo who played for Invictus Gaming back in 2018, when they finished runner-up to RNG in the Summer Playoffs and qualified for the World Championships. Invictus Gaming then went on to be the first Chinese team to win the World Championships, gaining ‘JackeyLove’ a massive following and even a news story on ESPN’s main website in November of 2018. Since joining Top Esports, he has been trying to drag his teammates along with him to try and repeat the same dose that saw him and Invictus Gaming take out Worlds.
In the most recent series between LNG Gaming and Top Esports, TES took the series 2-1 in what was a close and highly competitive series between two teams that are equally as talented as one-another. This BO5 series should be a cracker of a contest and there is not a lot splitting these two in the betting for good reason. We believe that we are going all the way here, with the BO5 going to a decisive and final map five. BetOnline are giving us great odds of +162 for over 4.5 maps and that is where our money will be going.
