The New York Subliners took out Call of Duty League Major V in Toronto on Sunday, seeing the third seed for the CDL Championship bookend the year after they claimed Major I back in December of last year.

The Subliners came into the final Call of Duty Major for 2023 at +700 on the third line of betting with most esports betting sites, with the runners-up Atlanta FaZe and fifth-sixth placegetters Los Angeles Thieves ahead of them in the market.

Even though New York won the Major, they had to do it the hard way after their opening series against the hometown team Toronto Ultra in a back-and-forth 3-2 match.

With that loss, the eventual champions dropped into the elimination bracket; however, consecutive 3-0 wins against the Los Angeles Guerrillas, Las Vegas Legion and Florida Mutineers set up a rematch with Ultra in the fourth round.

The Subliners got their revenge by completing a mini comeback, rallying from 1-2 down to take the series and qualify for the elimination final against Minnesota ROKKR.

With all the momentum behind them, New York entered their clash with Minnesota full of confidence, and that showed in their dominant 3-0 victory, seeing them through to the final against Atlanta FaZe.

In Call of Duty circles, FaZe are known as one of the best Search & Destroy teams in the world, which meant that New York would have to beat them on at least two of the three S&D games to claim the title.

Not only did the Subliners defeat FaZe in the first two Search & Destroy games, they then ended the best-of-seven series with an outstanding 6-3 result on the third to win their second Major of the season.

With the fifth and final Major done and dusted, the season now turns to Call of Duty League Championship Weekend, which will be held in Las Vegas from June 15-18 with a prize pool of $2.3 million up for grabs.
