The RLCS World Championship is broken into three distinct stages, with these being the Swiss Stage, Swiss Tiebreaker and Playoffs.

The different stages of the RLCS World Championship are broken down like this:

  • 16 teams Swiss system format
  • All matches are best-of-five
  • Top eight teams advance to the Playoffs

• Swiss Tiebreaker (September 14)

  • Teams finishing 3rd-5th in the Swiss Stage play out a tiebreaker to determine the seeding for those positions
  • The third seed plays the fourth seed and the loser will playoff against the fifth seed
  • All matches are best-of-five

• Playoffs (September 14-15)

  • AFL playoff bracket
  • Top four teams of the Swiss Stage start with two chances before the final four and the bottom four teams start with one chance
  • All matches are best-of-seven
