After a month’s break from European competitions, FlyQuest will take another go at leaving their mark at ESL Pro League Season 20. However, they are not expected to do well, and esports betting sites have them priced at +324 for Tuesday’s clash.

Eternal Fire are far from one of the leading candidates to hoist the trophy in Malta, but they have done well in their most recent outings, with comfortable victories against B8, Cloud9, 9Pandas, and Team Falcons. Before that, the Turkish squad produced a few less convincing displays against weaker squads, so consistency is still missing.

FlyQuest are in good form, and while all of their recent victories came against lesser regional opponents, they posted good results against higher-rated opposition before the summer break and even at the start of August. As such, it is fair to expect the Australian squad can do some damage.

FaZe Clan should be in for a field day when they face off against Sangal Esports for the first time. But while Sangal are a much lower-rated team on the global Counter-Strike standings, they have found some serious momentum lately.

They won CCT Season 2 European Series #6 and Series #7 and, just over a week ago, placed second at Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: European Qualifier A. With an incredible 18-3 record since the start of July, Sangal Esports seem to be set to make a splash in Malta.

FaZe Clan are serious title contenders; however, they have produced some unconvincing performances over the last few weeks against Rare Atom, paiN Gaming, and OG, so it is not entirely unlikely that Sangal Esports take a map off them.

HEROIC have not come close to winning a tournament since placing top four at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #1. However, Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski and co. have recently found some traction with four wins over their last six series.

Ninjas in Pyjamas are 3-7 from their last 10 and on a four-game losing streak. They did well to upset Cloud9 and FaZe Clan at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024 earlier this month, but that means very little after their most recent outings.

HEROIC are not in the best shape, and they lost their last meeting with Ninjas in Pyjamas in June. However, unlike Ninjas in Pyjamas, HEROIC have shown some improvement and should not struggle to come away with a comfortable victory.

MiBR and 9z Team last clashed in the second round of Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2024, when 9z won in two maps. They needed overtime on Ancient but crushed the Brazillians on Nuke with 13-2, so the game was not particularly close.

Since then, 9z Team have won just one of five games played, including losses to Astralis, Team Falcons, and paiN Gaming (twice). MiBR, on the other side, have won three games over the same stretch, albeit against BESTIA and two against Hype Esports.

MiBR seem to be in better form, but Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez and his crew have a better map pool, stronger results against more formidable opponents, and are up in the head-to-head stakes. Barring any surprises, 9z Team should come out ahead.

Following a lacklustre performance on their map, Spirit was tasked with playing G2’s pick of Mirage.

However, G2 started Mirage with four straight rounds on the terrorist side before Spirit won their first, thanks to three kills from zont1x.

Unfortunately for Spirit, G2 continued their dominance and finished the half with a massive 11-1 lead before closing out the series with a 13-1 demolition.

Spirit has been sent packing from IEM Cologne following an embarrassing performance, which saw them win just four rounds in the clash with G2.

9z Team joined Spirit in last place after they were eliminated from Cologne by paiN Gaming in a back-and-forth three-map series, with paiN completing the reverse sweep after losing the first map.

Meanwhile, Natus Vincere (NaVi) and SAW secured their spots in the LANXESS Arena following their victories in the Group A upper bracket semi-finals.

NaVi proved too strong for Astralis and took the series 2-0 (13-4, 13-7).

SAW was pushed to their limits against The Mongolz, as they played all three maps and eventually claimed the series 2-1 (13-16, 13-7, 13-10).

The IEM Cologne group stage will continue on Monday, with two elimination matches scheduled to kick off the day.

FlyQuest and BIG have enough talent on their rosters to qualify for the IEM Cologne 2024 main event. However, it is tough to pick a winner between these two, and betting on the total maps market looks to be the safest play.

The Mongolz broke into the top 10 on the ESL world rankings for the first time, but they have since dropped to 11th. The Mongolian squad is ranked 18 spots higher than SAW and shouldn’t have much trouble beating the Portuguese roster.

Heroic will have to play at IEM Cologne with Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletnjuk as a stand-in, which should make this clash against MIBR closer than first expected. Neither team enters this event in great form, so taking the underdog at the match line is the play.

9z Team surprised everyone when they finished in third-fourth place at IEM Dallas 2024, where they defeated the likes of Liquid, Vitality and MOUZ. 3DMAX have had little time to prepare for their IEM Cologne campaign after being added as a replacement for BetBoom Team on Monday. Team Singularity are in a tough spot, missing an in-game leader, but it’s not like this team would have a realistic chance against 00 Nation, even with freo. 00 Nation’s new European lineup has played just one official tournament but looked very good, so it’s hard to doubt their chances to crush Team Singularity on Friday.

9z Team were in excellent form in July, winning KaBuM! Legends and CCT South America Series #8. But since the start of August, Maximiliano “max” Gonzalez and co. have failed to find as much success.

An early exit from TG Masters Fall 2023 followed by a 9th-16th finish at CCT North Europe Series #7 puts a huge question mark over 9z Team and their ability to deliver in the ThunderPick World Championship. However, most CS:GO bookmakers are projecting the South American side will do well in this matchup.

MASONIC have won just one tournament in 2023 �C MistGames Heroes of Lofoten in April �C and they haven’t looked good over the last two months. In the first Thunderpick World Championship 2023 qualifiers, they crashed out in 25th-40th place and have since exited CCT Central Europe Series #7 in 23rd-24th and HATOR Series #1 in 13th-16th.

Besides the Danish squad’s poor results, MASONIC are also struggling with roster stability, having lost five players since May. They signed a new squad in July, but even that project didn’t last long, with Andreas “Hansi” Hansen leaving the team to join Alpha Gaming five weeks after his arrival.

9z Team haven’t looked amazing lately, but they’re in a good spot to win this series. 9z Team to sweep is a bit of a bold pick, but at +160 with top esports betting sites, it’s a solid value bet.
