The post G2 Esports reportedly parted ways with head coach Carlos “ocelote” Rodrguez appeared first on Esport Bet.
]]>Reports stipulate that this may be as a result of the inconsistent performance of the organization this year. At the moment, it is unclear which party made the decision to release the coach. Whether or not it is the team of XTQZZ’s choice is still unknown.
XTQZZZ has been demonstrated to be one of the best coaches in the world after a three-year-long tenure with Team Vitality between the years 2019 and 2021. During this time, he was responsible for leading the team to the top of the world rankings on multiple occasions. The French organization was pressured into terminating his contract as a result of the international shift as well as the introduction of Danny “zonic” Srensen into his post.
For the first time as an organization since it entered the game in 2015, G2 did not qualify for the CS:GO Major this year. After suffering defeat at the hands of GamerLegion, Cloud9, and 1WIN during the Europe RMR A for the 2022 IEM CS:GO Major, the team finished at a let down 12th to 14th place.
The Chief Executive Officer of G2 Esports, Carlos “ocelote” Rodrguez, indicated shortly after the team was eliminated that “he has a lot of thinking to do” and has a lot of work to do.
“It feels like crap to have the CS:GO summer holiday start when we most suck.”
In just two and a half months, there would be yet another change in the CS:GO team of G2 if this information turned out to be accurate. On August 16, the company announced the signing of Justin “jks” Savage and Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, who succeeded Audric “JACKZ” Jug and Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen in their respective roles.
Even though those modifications were made, G2 have not had much of a chance to contest against other teams. In the 16th season of the ESL Pro League, they made it all the way to the semifinals before being eliminated by Team Vitality, who went on to win the league.
G2 is still lacking in consistency, and the squad maybe in search of another coach to join their roster in the hopes of propelling them over the hurdle and into the ranks of the finest teams in the globe.

]]>The post Riot Games suspends former G2 Esports CEO Carlos Rodriguez appeared first on Esport Bet.
]]>The behavior reportedly violated Riot Games code of conduct section in the companys League of Legends European Championship rule book. As a result, Rodriguez has to stay away from the esports scene until November 13, 2022. The game developer claimed that the former CEOs actions and statements presented Riot Games in a poor light.
Riot Games explained that Rodriguezs previous actions clearly violated the LECs Official Rules Article 9.2: 5. The passage revealed that team members “may not give, make, issue, authorize, or endorse any statement or action having, or designed to have, an effect prejudicial or detrimental to the best interest of the League, Riot Games or its affiliates, or League of Legends, as determined in the sole and absolute discretion of the League.”
Rodriguez was banned from having “any managerial or operational position with a team or organization in a Riot-sanctioned competition” for the next eight weeks. The game developers suspension will officially kick off on September 18 when G2 Esports places Rodriguez back on unpaid leave.
Besides the suspension, Rodriguez was also mandated to undertake sensitivity and executive training overseen by an independent third party with no ties to G2, Rodriguez, or Riot Games. The ruling stated that the training had to be completed within 120 days, after which the G2 founder could be let back into Riot Games ecosystem.
120 days from now is roughly February 11, so Rodriguez will likely be a part of the game developers esports ecosystem under any organization at the start of 2023. The G2 founder is yet to respond publicly to Riot Games ruling.
Riot Games recent actions resulted from an investigation performed by the organization on September 19, after Rodriguezs previous Andrew Tate-related incident.
A few weeks ago, the former esports organization head posted a video of himself partying with Andrew Tate, a controversial public figure.
In addition to his widely known misogynistic views, Tate has been accused of being a human trafficker. Due to his extreme views on sensitive topics, Tate has notably been banned from major social media platforms.
Aside from the clip showing Rodriguezs affiliation with the infamous public figure, the former G2 seemed to worsen the situation after releasing a follow-up tweet. Rodriguez unsurprisingly received backlash from colleagues and fans due to the video and wrote back, revealing that he would not let his friendships be “policed.” The G2 founder added that he would “party with whoever the fuck I want.”
Shortly after the tweet was posted, G2 released a statement concerning the issue and explained that Rodriguez was placed on eight weeks of unpaid suspension by the company.
A few days later, the organization released a second statement announcing Rodriguezs resignation from the post in G2. The former CEO also posted a video during that period where he broke the news to his followers and revealed that he regretted his actions.
Besides the online backlash, Rodriguezs action cost G2 a spot on Valorants Americas league-partnered squads for the fast-approaching VCT 2023 season. In preparation for the partnership, G2 were in talks with XSET about the teams entire roster and staff. However, the entire agreement had to be called off after Riot Games reversed its decision to partner with the European organization.

]]>Due to the backlash, as well as the organization losing out on their Valorant partnership spot, Rodriguez announced his decision to step away from the company he built from the ground up. According to reports, Riot Games was attempting to force the former CEO to sell the stocks he owned in the company.
If Rodriguez does this, the G2 founder will officially have no ties whatsoever with G2, which could be what the game developer is aiming for. Besides their Valorant team, G2 also have a roster for the League of Legends esports title, which was also developed by Riot. The organization are deeply immersed in the League of Legends European Championship and have won several trophies in the esport for the past number of years.
The source of the news, Yuste from Esportmaniacos, claimed G2 were apprehensive of losing out on their LEC spot, hence their compliance with Riot. Yuste also said that he was yet to have another source confirm the news.
“Some people said some were scared of also losing their LEC spot,” Yuste said.
“According to information that was relayed to me, it seemsand I wish I had another source to confirm itbut it seems Riot came to G2 and said, Ocelote [Rodriguez] is blacklisted. He cant be a part of anything that involves Riot. And it seemsthough I dont knowbut it seems Ocelote had to sell his shares in G2. Thats why in his video he said he no longer has ties with G2.”
If the as-of-yet unconfirmed report is accurate, this will be Riot Games most high-profile blacklisting incident involving a managerial member of a participating esports team. The game developer has placed a number of sanctions on the owners of organizations with teams in their ecosystem over the years.
Riots most recent sanction was placed against the owner of TSM, Andy Reginald Dinh. At the time, Reginald was fined $75,000, mandated to attend sensitivity training, and underwent two years of probation.
Neither Riot Games nor Rodriguez has confirmed or denied the reports. However, the head of League of Legends esports in EMEA, Maximilian Peter Schmidt, has debunked the report, calling the news false. Schmidt took to Twitter and revealed that Riot never forced Rodriguez to sell off his G2 shares.
“Hey everyone, I saw several false rumors regarding G2 & Carlos and wanted to clarify: The LEC has not requested Carlos to resign from G2 nor divest his ownership. We opened an investigation last week per our LEC rules, which is still ongoing.”
G2 as a whole are yet to say anything concerning the situation and made their last formal announcement-to-date when the company revealed that they accepted Rodriguezs resignation.
Rodriguezs recent resignation from the esports company comes on the heels of the former CEOs post, which showed him hanging out with Andrew Tate, a controversial public figure as well as an alleged human trafficker. The video unsurprisingly led to a horde of criticism from the esports community as well as Rodriguezs own colleagues.
In response, the G2 Esports founder took to Twitter to defend his actions and said, in no unclear terms, that no one had the right to dictate who he could associate with. His words drew more backlash, and a day later, G2 released their first official statement. At that point, the company revealed that they were against any form of unjust treatment of women and announced Rodriguezs eight weeks of unpaid leave.
The entire situation seemed to get worse for the esports team from there, as they were denied a spot on Riot Games partnered teams. Despite being one of the leading teams in the esport, G2 reportedly lost out on the placement as a result of Rodriguezs recent antics. The incident cost the organization millions of dollars.
Not long after Riot Games announced their 30 partnered teams, leaving G2 out, Rodriguez announced that he had stepped away from the position of the companys CEO. In the video, the esports company founder claimed “full responsibility for everything that has happened over the past few days.”

]]>In the announcement posted on the companys official Twitter page, G2 apologized for their CEOs recent actions, claiming that they are in no way related to the organizations core values.
“Last night, we failed you,” the organization wrote. “The actions of our CEO spoke a language in stark contrast with the values, and the culture G2 lives by and strives for. And for that, we apologize. Since our creation, we have worked hard to build a safe and inclusive environment to enjoy Esports. These are just small steps in the right direction we need to take as a company. We’ll continue to do our best each and every day to improve ourselves and the industry at large.”
“After internal discussion, Carlos and our Supervisory Board have mutually agreed that he will take eight weeks of leave as CEO and suspend his earnings during that time. Thank you to the G2ARMY and the Esports community for holding us accountable,”
Less than 24 hours before the suspension was announced, Rodriguez posted a video of himself at a party. While this seems harmless enough, he was partying with Andrew Tate, an infamous content creator and internet figure. In addition to being an alleged misogynist, Tate is also allegedly a human trafficker.
The video unsurprisingly received backlash from fans and colleagues alike, but Rodriguez seemed unfazed. The G2 CEO went on to post a tweet, saying that he would party with whoever he pleased and that no one had the right to monitor his friendships.
“Nobody will ever be able to police my friendships,” Rodriguez tweeted. “I draw my line here. I party with whoever the fuck I want.”
The CEOs video and his following statements resulted in both professional associates and his colleagues in the organization calling him out and criticizing his actions and defense.
Shortly after the suspension announcement went up, Rodriguez went on Twitter once again, but this time to apologize to the G2 fan base for his actions. The CEO revealed that, despite being an advocate for equality, he was unable to understand the situation properly and felt bad about the outcome.
“Many G2 fans were let down this weekend which created confusion about what I stand for,” he wrote. “It has always been my consistent target to stand for absolute equality of opportunity regardless of who you are or where you come from, which is what gaming is all about.”
“Make no mistake, my life was full of learnings, and I had my fair share of situations I got into in the past. I failed to read this room right, feel terrible about the discussions it created and will stand up and accept the consequences in full.”
The no-pay suspension will be on during the League of Legends World Championship this year, in which G2s League of Legends squad will compete. At the earliest, Rodriguez will be allowed back into the office on November 13.
Rodriguez’s actions dealt a sizable blow to G2s reputation because the organization previously revealed their initiatives to ensure that women had a more stable standing in esports. They launched their second all-female esports team, this time for League of Legends. The first all-female G2 team was created for the organizations Valorant franchise.
