Esportbet brings you free Halo esports betting previews for a pair of Halo Championship Series 2023: Arlington Major matches on Friday, June 30. Here are our selections for Sentinels vs Quadrant and Native Gaming Red vs Native Gaming White, who’ll clash in the first round of Pool Play.

Quadrant made quite a splash at HCS Global Invitational C DreamHack at the start of the month when the French Halo esports squad exceeded everyone’s expectations. They won Pool C and looked poised for a deep in the Championship Bracket, where they found some success but couldn’t break into the top four.

Following a close 2-3 loss in the first round of the upper bracket against Native Gaming Red, Quadrant eliminated Sentinels (3-1) and Hive (3-0) before losing a close game to OpTic (2-3). Overall, Quadrant looked good, and as one of the few teams that haven’t made any roster changes, the French squad are expected to do well in Texas.

Sentinels haven’t accomplished much this year and haven’t placed higher than top eight since their fifth-sixth-place finish at Halo World Championship 2022 in October. The lack of success led to significant roster changes earlier this month and the signing of Jesse “bubu dubu” Moeller and Michael “Falcated” Garcia, who are great additions to the roster.

Bubu dubu, in particular, is the man to watch as one of the best all-around players in the Halo esports scene and arguably the man Sentinels need to break their dry streak. There are many questions about Sentinels, mainly because the roster changes came just two weeks ago, but on paper, Sentiels look very good and are one of the live underdogs to win the whole thing.

Quadrant are a proven team, which we know are good but not great. On the other side, Sentinels have the potential to be extremely good and are worth a bet at the offered Halo esports betting sites.

NATIVE GAMING RED vs NATIVE GAMING WHITE HCS BETTING & MATCH DETAIL

Native Gaming Red signed Jorge “BoamX” Campos at the start of June, who was announced as a replacement for Roman “Druk” Nasirudin at HCS 2023 Arlington Major. But there were rumours that BoamX was N8R’s main choice either way, so the ex-Cloud9 player stepping in for Drunk is a good thing.

BoamX proved his worth in Dallas, where he helped Native Gaming Red to a fourth-place finish, marking N8R’s fifth consecutive top-four tournament placement. Results like that prove one thing C Native Gaming Red are good but not quite as good as the top dogs, but the balance of power might shift following the recent roster shuffles.

Their next opponents, Native Gaming White, are a lesser version of N8R as they’ve not accomplished much since their fourth-place finish at Year 2 Kickoff Major Charlotte. And it doesn’t help that Native Gaming White lost Chris “Gilk3y” Gilkey to Complexity earlier this month.

Even at -138.89, Native Gaming Red look undervalued and are a good choice on the moneyline market.

On Thursday, North American esports outfit Shopify Rebellion revealed their new Halo roster with the addition of three new players.

The team’s latest acquisition for their 2023 Halo roster included the 17-year-old Puetorican and American player Jason “Karmea” Morales and former eUnited players Ryan “RyaNoob” Geddes and Timothy “Rayne” Tinkler.

Adding RyaNoob to the team will certainly bring a boost to their game play, as the 29-year-old American was tagged the 25th Greatest Halo Player of All Time. RyaNoob has been sharpening his skill sets with every new team hes representing since he launched his career in December 2014. The player has been in multiple domestic and international tournaments, representing a long list of various teams, which includes Denial eSports, Team CryptiK, Nfite, Winterfox, Falling Esports, Team Allegiance, Oxygen Supremacy, recently eUnited, and a few others.

Although Rayne did not start his career as early as RyaNoob, both players are comparable. The 28-year-old American graced the Halo scene with his peculiar game play in 2016 and has been on a spectacular ride ever since then. Rayne has been signed by teams such as eLevate, the renowned Team EnVyUs, Team Liquid, Luminosity Gaming, Oxygen Supremacy, Falling Esports, Nfinite, eUnited, and others.

Rayne has made game appearances in Halo 3, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Infinite, and Halo Reach. With eUnited, he participated in the 2022 Halo Championship Series (HCS): North America Regionals, where they emerged in third place, and fell one step behind in the Kansas City Major with a fourth-place finish.

With eUnited, both he and RyaNoob represented the team at the 2022 Halo World Championship, where they came in seventhCeighth place, losing to Cloud9 in a match that ended with a 0:3 score.

Karmea, on the other hand, only started his Halo journey in 2020, when he signed with the North American team Elevate. Ever since then, he has moved further to compete with teams like VANDYL, Luminosity Gaming, UYU, and more recently, Falling Esports, which he left in September of last year following a disappointing run at the 2022 HCS: Orlando Major where the team came out with a 21st-24th finish, losing to Team WaR in a match that ended with a 0:3 score.

However, prior to being knocked off at this stage, the team came in strong before their unexpected fall. Fallen Esports was able to garner a first-fourth place in the qualifier open bracket match of the 2022 HCS.

All three new players will be joining the 24-year-old American player, Billy “MentaL” Putnam, who is the only remaining player from the former roster, and their 33-year-old American coach, Nick “BesT MaN” Johnson.

The magnitude of players on this new team, marks the best and most powerful roster the North American esports outfit have ever fielded. Although this powerhouse can only be praiseworthy when they start playing and producing results. Last year, Shopify Rebellion was knocked out of the HCS event at the qualifier of the Orlando Major Open Bracket, where they came in with a 13thC16th place finish. This year, the team hopes to make a better run.

The revamped Shopify Rebellion team is now set for the Kickoff Major, which gets underway on February 24, 2023.

After sending in an application and waiting for a decision regarding the Halo Championship Series partnership program, Acend have finally gotten a response. Unfortunately, it is not one the team hoped for.

The European esports organization took to Twitter to reveal that their bid has been rejected. Acend are distraught with the decision, and perhaps more upset at the fact that no reasonable explanation was given for the denial.

“We are sad to announce that our HCS partnership application was rejected. Despite request, we’ve not received any elaboration on the decision, other than we were deep into consideration.

“This is disappointing for the organization, our players, and our fans.”

Regardless of the situation, the organization is committed to supporting their players. In the statement, Acend said:

“We have put all our effort in to supporting our players and the scene to compete internationally and progress Halo beyond a one region esport. Our players have shown they are world class competitors and Europe has shown we can constantly compete internationally. Sadly it seems the region will continue to receive minimal support.”

“We believe in our players and their abilities and will continue to support them. Our goal remains the same: to take on the best teams in the World and put European Halo on the map.”

So far, there are suspicions of Halo favoring the North American teams, and Acend pointed it out. They believe the region needs to receive a lot more support from the organizers.

It is difficult to fault their argument, seeing eight of the nine partnered organizations, eight compete in the NA division. Only Ukrainian Natus Vincere is part of the HCS partnership program.

Some other teams whose applications have been rejected are XSET and Kansas City Pioneers. XSET has since left Halo owing to their application being denied.

Acend player Renan “Sica” Grall has also commented on the news. The French expressed disappointment with not being given the opportunity to advance Halo in the region despite their exploits.

“Being partnered would have been a dream for me. Ive been thinking about being able to represent Acend with our colors in game and the possibility of seeing all of my friends wearing the skins to show their support would have been something extremely heartwarming. Were really sad because we felt like weve done some big achievements throughout the year and have pushed Europe as much as we could, we thought that we would get partnered in order to promote HCS in Europe and make it grow together but it didnt go the way we planned it. Were confused because we, us and Acend, dont know what we could do better to help the competitive scene, weve been making content, bootcamps, best placements in our Region and consistently winning every single European tournament. Its a big disappointment for us especially because of the lack of communication were getting from those who took the decision.”

It is unclear what the criteria are, especially since Acend have had a successful 2022. In 16 tournaments they have featured in this year, they have won all but two. They finished third in the HCS Europe Pro Series 1 Split 2 and recorded an eighth-placed finish in the HCS Kansas City Major.

Acend has clearly dominated the Europe scene this year, with most of their victories coming against NAVI. They are one of four European teams that sealed a spot in the pool play of the HCS Orlando Major.

A top 12 finish in the event, which is scheduled to commence on September 23, will see Acend qualify for the 2022 Halo World Championship. 2017 was the last time the event was held, which will mean that this is their first chance of featuring in the final event of a competitive season.
