The post Gen.G vs Dplus KIA Betting Picks C LCK 2024 Summer Playoffs Round 2 appeared first on Esport Bet.
]]>The defending League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2024 champions, Gen.G, picked Dplus KIA as their opponents in the second round of the LCK 2024 Summer Playoffs, hoping to emulate their success from the regular season. According to the LoL betting odds, the clash on Wednesday, August 28, should end like the last two meetings.
Gen.G are priced as firm favourites to defeat the 2020 world champions, which is not too shocking given their phenomenal display throughout the summer split. As Gen.G have already proven their worth, the only question for this series is whether Dplus KIA have the tools to upset the current hottest League of Legends esports team in the region.
Heo “ShowMaker” Su and co. enter the second round of the playoffs following a 3-1 victory against BNK FearX, where they displayed just how much the individual quality of the players matters.
BNK FearX did throw the second map with a poor early game and questionable transition into the mid and late game. The underdogs came away with the third game after some back-and-forth but got stomped on map four to lose 1-3.
Realistically, Dplus KIA could have lost at least two maps on the day, but they were much more efficient at closing out games due to the individual performances of the star players. Overall, a solid display from Dplus KIA, yet they can not expect Gen.G to make it as easy for them to gain leads early or take advantage of mistakes to turn the games in later stages.
The last time these two teams met, Dplus KIA closed as +354 underdogs. Yet despite picking up a map, their implied probability of upsetting Gen.G on Wednesday remains low at 18.6%, with the top LoL betting sites.
This is a very low number for a fixture between two elite teams, considering Gen.G’s regular season stats were not significantly better than Dplus KIA’s. The outsiders also came close to sweeping Gen.G in LCK 2024 Summer Week 5, and even though DK’s results have been a bit all over the place since, they have the talent to take a bite out of Gen.G on Wednesday.
At -166.67 on Dplus KIA to win a map, they are hard to pass on. A smaller position on +1.5 at close to +200 is worth a look, too.

Instead of comparing the team’s raw quality and potential, the question for this LoL Champions Korea fixture is whether Hanwha Life Esports deserve to be priced as such massive favourites.
The teams have not made any significant roster changes since LCK 2024 Spring, so it’s fair to mention that Hahwna Life Esport swept OKSavingsBank BRION at the start of March. But this doesn’t mean they deserve to be given nearly 70% implied probability to sweep.
While an elite team, Hanwha Life Esports have a weird, counter-punching style of play, which usually works against weaker teams. But OKSavingsBank BRION have looked competitive so far this split, with two three-map series against DRX and Kwangdong Freecs.
OKSavingsBank BRION have looked better than expected this split, and while this doesn’t mean they have a realistic chance to defeat Hanwha Life Esports, BRION at +166 with the best esports betting sites to pocket a map on Friday is a very generous offer.

T1 are an elite squad and serious candidates to win the LCK 2024 Summer trophy. But at the offered price, we would be overpaying to see T1 defeat what looks to be a much-improved version of Kwangdong Freecs.
Even though T1 have Kwangdong Freecs’ number this season, with two 2-0 sweeps from the spring split, Kwangdong Freecs are in good form. They’ve beaten KT Rolster, OKSavingsBank BRION and Nongshim RedForce without problems.
While clearly a competent team, Kwangdong Freecs have random games where they look asleep. But they’ve produced just as many elite-level performances.
Kwangdong Freecs can be a bit inconsistent, but this number is too good to ignore.

After beating T1 on Sunday, Gen.G should be on cruise control until LCK 2024 Summer Week 4, when they face off against fellow contenders Dplus KIA. KT Rolster, while a competent team, shouldnt pose any issues for the defending champions.
Gen.G are arguably the strongest LoL esports team in the world, as shown by their titles from the LCK 2024 Spring regular season and playoffs and Mid-Season Invitational 2024. While T1 made them work for it, Gen.G looked excellent in the first week of the split.
KT Rolster had a rough start to the split with defeats against Kwangdong Freecs and Dplus KIA. Considering KT Rolsters questionable macro and their volatility, those results should surprise no one.
Gen.G are everything KT Rolster are not: very stable with strong players and excellent macro. This should show on Thursday.

FearX won their opening match of LCK 2024 Summer against Nongshim RedForce and, unsurprisingly, had to admit defeat to Gen.G last Friday. Two games arent enough to make any conclusions, but FearX have a pulse and are very good at dragging opponents into a scrappy affair, which is where they shine.
DRX picked up one victory last week against OKSavingsBank BRION and even took a bite out of Hanwha Life Esports. Yet beating BRION isnt too impressive, nor is punishing Hanwha for their passive, counter-punching style of play.
These two teams wont be competing for the LCK trophy this split, but FearX have a higher ceiling. Their performance figures werent terrible last split, and if FearX can find more stability, they should outperform DRX this split.

Kwangdong Freecs picked up two important victories against KT Rolster and OKSavingsBank BRION last week. They needed all three maps to defeat BRION and looked very questionable on Map 2, but Kwangdong were dominant on the first and third maps.
Nongshim RedForce have yet to taste victory this split, and according to the esports betting sites, they’re unlikely to get their name on the board on Wednesday. They had a shaky showing against FearX on the opening day and failed to accomplish much in their game against T1.
RedForce had their moments against T1 and held on relatively well. And while most of it had to do with T1’s sloppy plays, Nongshim showed they’re not afraid to fight.
Kwangdong Freecs are the better team, but they seem a bit inconsistent and won’t have side choice for this series. The favourites should win, but we like Nongshim RedForce with a map advantage.

After sweeping Nongshim RedForce in their opening match of LoL Champions Korea 2024 Summer, T1 suffered their third head-to-head defeat against Gen.G this season. The game ended in two maps, but the score doesn’t tell the whole story.
Both maps were extremely close to ending in T1’s favour — especially the second map, where Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong was a couple of auto attacks away from closing out the game. That’s not to say Gen.G are weaker than T1, but rather that T1 are much closer to the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 champions than it might seem.
Dplus KIA have been doing well this split. They needed three maps to make it past Hanwha Life Esports and KT Rolster, which isn’t something to celebrate too much; however, they are in excellent form and look capable of causing problems for any team they face.
Dplus KIA are slowly creeping into the elite few LCK teams, and they’ll get there if they can keep up the pace. Although still weaker than T1, Dplus have shown great things last split and early into LCK 2024 Summer, which makes it easy to believe we’ll see a competitive series.

KT Rolster really lived up to their name in LoL Champions Korea 2024 Spring. Their run through the season was a complete rollercoaster, ending in the first round of the playoffs with a 2-3 defeat against Dplus KIA.
Results aside, KT Rolster showed a lot of good things but were also extremely volatile. That worked in their favour, as KT displayed a very high ceiling — they just didn’t hit their highs at the right time.
Kwangdong Freecs were also anything but consistent last split, but not in a bad way. There were runs where they looked like they were the real deal, but Kwangdong struggled in some areas — especially with accumulating leads in the early game.
On a more positive note, Kwangdong Freecs are very efficient in closing out games, so they have the potential to compete if they can iron out their early game. But that is a big ‘if’, and even then, the Freecs might not have enough raw talent to hang with the top contenders.
There’s a reason esports betting sites have KT Rolster priced as such big favourites. They should be good enough to sweep this one.
OKSAVINGSBANK BRION vs DRX LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |

When: | June 13, 2024 | 19:30 KST |

DRX ended LCK 2024 Spring with just three wins from 18 series played. They produced a few good games, but the constant player-swapping didn’t help DRX find the needed stability to accomplish anything noteworthy.
For the summer split, DRX decided to keep their roster intact and made just one change by adding coach Oh “Raise” Ji-hwan at the end of May. Not adding players might seem like an odd move, but DRX have enough talent to perform better.
OKSavingsBank BRION managed just three wins last split and also decided to keep the lineup relatively untouched, adding just Ko “YoungJae” Yeong-jae as a new jungler. It is, however, highly likely that BRION will look to call up academy players throughout the season.
Similarly to DRX, BRION have enough talent to do well, but they don’t have a player that would lead the team to be more proactive. Perhaps YoungJae could be the one to take over that role, but we have to see it first.
Both teams are flawed, but DRX have at least made the necessary changes to address their weaknesses. OKSavingsBank BRION might’ve found their solution in YoungJae, but he doesn’t seem the type, so we’ll remain sceptical.
