G2 Esports were the best team of the LEC 2023 season, and things are unlikely to change in 2024. Fielding some of the best players in the league in their respective roles, G2 Esports looks poised to claim another LEC trophy.
With all the map and gameplay changes, their quality might not translate to results. At least not very early.
Team BDS signed a new ADC in Yoon “Ice” Sang-hoon for the 2024 season, which seemed like a strange move considering BDS already had Ju? “Crownie” Maru?i?. Still, even with a new ADC, Team BDS looks good and might be one of the most underrated teams in the league.
Team BDS has a lot of potential and enough talent to do well. Beating G2 won’t be easy, but Team BDS is good enough to keep the game close.
SK GAMING vs ROGUE LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |

Best Odds: | SK -120.48 at BetOnline | ROGUE -120.48 at BetOnline |
When: | January 13, 2024 | 18:00 CET |

Rogue has kept Emil “Larssen” Larsson and Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos for this season, which was a good call, but besides the duo, Rogue doesn’t have as much star power. Even though Rogue has decent pieces, there’s minimal upside.
SK Gaming swapped out their mid-jungle and signed Yasin “Nisqy” Din?er, who is a huge upgrade for SK. So, like Rogue, SK have some strong pieces, yet they lack a couple of star players to reach?the top. But this issue is far more significant with SK.
Rogue are a good team that won’t surprise anyone, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be competitive. On the other side, SK Gaming has a lot to prove since we don’t know how good Isma?l “Isma” Boualem is.
This can be a close game, but Rogue looks stronger heading into the LEC 2024 Winter season.
FNATIC vs KARMINE CORP LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |
|
---|---|
Best Odds: | Fnatic -175.44 at BetOnline | KC +125 at BetOnline |
When: | January 13, 2024 | 19:00 CET |
Watch Live: | Lolesports, Twitch |
Fnatic enters the 2024 season with just one new player, support Yoon “Jun” Se-jun, who replaced Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus. This change should benefit Fnatic, who are ranked as the second-best LEC team.
Fnatic might even overtake G2 Esports. We must consider that this core has been together for just one split and showed significant improvement in the latter stages of the 2023 season. If this trend continues and Jun is as good as promised, Fnatic can make it far.
The league’s newcomers, Karmine Corp, formed a terrifying lineup and a strong coaching staff. Still, while KC signed excellent players in the offseason, it’s hard to say how they’ll do on the Rift, and there’s enough volatility that’ll come with the new season.
Fnatic are a proven team that’s done well last season. So, while Karmine Corp might be very strong, they first have to show something.
GIANTX vs TEAM VITALITY LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |
|
---|---|
Best Odds: | GX +125 at BetOnline | VIT -175.44 at BetOnline |
When: | January 13, 2024 | 20:00 CET |
Watch Live: | Lolesports, Twitch |
GIANTX (former Excel Esports) signed a new mid laner, Adam “Jackies” Je?bek, and former NRG support Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun in December, forming a solid roster. Purely quality-wise, GIANTX should do more than fine in the LEC 2024 Winter; however, there’s a big question mark above Jackies.
Team Vitality added three new players in December, including jungler Kacper “Daglas” Dagiel, mid laner Vincent “Vetheo” Berri, and ADC Maty? “Carzzy” Orsg. Even with these changes, Team Vitality looks just as strong as they were in 2023, granted their issue last year wasn’t quality as much as it was a lack of synergy.
Esports betting sites have Vitality priced as favourites; even though Vitality has stronger players, so this match looks like a coin toss.
MAD LIONS KOI vs TEAM HERETICS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS |
|
---|---|
Best Odds: | MAD +125 at BetOnline | TH -175.44 at BetOnline |
When: | January 13, 2024 | 21:00 CET |
Watch Live: | Lolesports, Twitch |
MAD Lions hit the reset button this offseason and formed a completely new lineup, keeping only their jungler Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla and surrounding him with young and unproven talent. With these changes, MAD Lions look more like a long-term project than a team capable of competing for the title.
But if the younger players can develop quickly, MAD Lions could be dangerous in the spring or summer.
Team Heretics united the former G2 Esports trio Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen, Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, and Luka “Perkz” Perkovi?, creating a Last Dance-type roster that could do better than expected. Even though Wunder, Perkz, and Jankos are past their prime, they’re all still capable of playing at the top level.
Team Heretics are priced as favourites, which is fair, but at -175.44, they are a great bet.

Meanwhile, the League of Legends EMEA Championship will kick off their Winter Split on January 13. The European League of Legends split will be the first split to begin its 2024 season, as G2 Esports seeks to defend their crown from the inaugural split last year.
The Stage 1 Boston Major will take place at the end of this month; however, the seeding qualifiers must finish beforehand.
Through three matches, Atlanta FaZe, Miami Heretics and New York Subliners remain undefeated at the top of the table.

]]>The post Inaugural LEC Winter Split records decrease in viewership on opening week appeared first on Esport Bet.
]]>According to data from Esports Charts, the LEC Winter Split’s opening week, which ended on January 23rd, had a peak viewership of 454,630. This number is lower than the peak viewership from the LEC Spring Split in 2022, which was recorded at 527,567.
There are several reasons that may have contributed to the decrease in viewership of the inaugural LEC Winter Split when compared to the 2022 Spring Split. One major change that LEC made is the recent alteration of its broadcast schedule. Instead of airing on Friday and Saturday, with occasional Sunday game weeks as was its previous custom, LEC now airs on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Additionally, LEC has also changed its format to include three splits – Winter, Spring, and Summer – with each split featuring a different format, including a round-robin, a best-of-three group stage, and best-of-five playoffs. These changes in format and schedule may have resulted in lower viewership figures.
The match-up that received the most views during the opening week was the day 3 fixture between the North American esports franchise, Fnatic, facing off against their Spanish counterparts, KOI.
“LEC Winter 2023 accumulated 5.6 million Hours Watched in its first game week. The Average Viewers number was 294.5K. The most popular match was Fnatic vs. KOI with 464.1K Peak Viewers,” Esports Charts said.
Although the LEC Winter Split recorded a lower peak viewership in its opening week, the event saw its highest-ever Spanish-speaking viewership, which is possibly due to Riot Games’ recently announced co-streaming partnership with KOI and Team Heretics. The tournament recorded a peak viewership of 138,123 across its Spanish-speaking platforms. This is a promising indication that the league’s efforts to expand its reach and make it more accessible for non-English speaking viewers are paying off.
Despite the decrease in viewership during its opening week, the LEC had managed to secure partnerships with notable brands such as Kitkat, KIA, Displate, and Desperados 0.0%, with the latter being a sponsor of the LECs German broadcast. These partnerships suggest that the league is still seen as a valuable and attractive platform for brands to connect with fans and market their products.
It is worth mentioning that the LEC is not the only European League of Legends competition that has seen a decline in viewership compared to last year. In fact, the Spanish regional league, LVP Superliga, also recorded a decline in viewership during its opening game week last week, with 113,075 peak viewers, which happened to be a major decrease when compared to the 196,366 peak viewers during the 2022 Spring Split. This trend is not exclusive to League of Legends, as many esports title leagues have been experiencing similar challenges with viewership in recent times.
However, it is important to keep in mind that the LEC’s viewership numbers are still quite high, and the league is still one of the most popular esports leagues in Europe. Additionally, the recent changes made to its format and schedule were done with the aim of making the competition more accessible and engaging for fans according to the organizers, so it is possible that the decrease in viewership is a temporary setback.

]]>There have been two team changes for the upcoming LEC season, with Misfits Gaming announcing that they had sold their LEC slot to Team Heretics, after competing in the LEC for six years. Meanwhile, KOI merged with Rogue, who are the reigning LEC Summer split champions, meaning that KOI will take over the Rogue LEC slot, with all bar-one of the players making the transition.
During the off-season, most of the teams made changes to their roster with G2 Esports and Team Vitality making the biggest moves. There were rumblings of a change for G2 after another failure at World 2022, and it wasnt long before the team announced that the G2 Founder/CEO Carlos ocelote Rodriguez Santiago and Jungler Marcin Jankos Jankowski were leaving the team after over five years of service.
Team Vitality was the other organisation to make big moves in the off-season, adding a new Top, AD Carry and Support, along with a new head coach, after the team finished seventh and missed the playoffs in the LEC Summer 2022.
Esports betting sites have three teams very close at the top of the market, with G2 Esports slightly favoured to win the LEC Winter at +250, just ahead of KOI and Fnatic at +275 apiece.
The 2023 LEC Winter split will be the debut season for KOI, after they merged with the 2022 LEC Summer split champions and LoL Worlds 2022 quarterfinalists, Rogue. Of the five players on the Rogue roster, all bar one of the members made the transition over to KOI, with Andrei Odoamne Pascu making the move to Excel Esports. KOI went and acquired Mathias Szygenda Jensen as their top-laner from Vitality.Bee, to round out their five-man roster.
Coming off a very successful end to 2022, this KOI roster will be looking to begin their own era, with the likes of G2 Esports and Fnatic going through somewhat of a transition phase. With most of the Rogue roster making the transition, it will allow Szygenda to practise and familiarise himself with his new teammates over the off-season. If he can find his feet quickly and settle in early, it will play a major factor in their success for the early part of 2023.
After finishing second in Group C behind the eventual Worlds Champions, DRX, and being knocked out in the quarterfinals by a very good JD Gaming team, KOI (Rogue) would have learnt a lot from playing against the best teams in the world. If they take some of what they learnt into the new year and continue their high level of play, they should prove a hard team to beat this split.
