?We sided with Aleksey “Arctur” Rozhnov to defeat Anton “Friend” Yashenko last week and made an easy buck on a player that was severely underestimated by the bookmakers. With that win, the Russian SCII pro advanced into the next stage of the competition, where he will face his compatriot Sergey “KingCobra” Kondaurov for the first time since August 2020.

At the provided odds, Arctur’s implied probability to win this match is 93.5%, which is too high in our book. Even though Arctur did well against Friend last week, he is still 1-4 across his last four outings and has played only two games in March – one ending in a 0-3 loss against Aleksandr “Bly” Svysiuk.

KingCobra has played three games in March and won two with 3-1 against Mikhail “AllHailLulu!” Zakharov and Matvey “Matvey” Yarkov, while his only loss came against Yuriy “MindelVK” Voyuev (1-3). Arctur should be slightly favoured to win, but all the value is with KingCobra.

?Dmytro “DIMAGA” Filipchuk and Aleksey “GeNieS” Gasanov will clash in the final match of the day, marking their first meeting since DIMAGA swept GeNieS at Free TON League #2 last December.

Despite DIMAGA’s success last time out, GeNieS has won two of the last four head-to-head clashes. While that doesn’t mean much in the greater picture, it does prove GeNieS is capable of beating the Ukrainian pro.

DIMAGA and GeNieS are both struggling with poor form, and while the latter has played fewer games of late, that does not justify the high odds. Again, we are taking the value on the underdog.

?Aleksey “Arctur” Rozhnov enters this match off a 0-3 loss against Aleksandr “Bly” Svysiuk in the upper bracket that marked his third consecutive defeat. Having dropped down to the lower bracket, Arctur’s chances to recreate his fifth-eighth finish from Moscow Cybersport Series Season 2 seem rather low, although he is heavily favoured to defeat Anton “Friend” Yashenko.

Friend is priced at long odds to win this match, and for good reason. The former Warcraft pro has yet to make a name for himself in the SCII esports scene and has not appeared in any tournament of note since his 57th-64th finish at the 2019 World Championship Series (WCS) Spring event.

Online bookmakers are paying +116 on Arctur to cover the 2.5-map handicap, which is significantly higher than what we expected to see. A fairer price would sit at around -125, so we don’t need to think twice before making our decision.

?The moneyline odds offered on this match seem about right since it’s fair to expect Ilya “MilkiCow” Potapov to win with relative ease. He is a far more established player who did well during the second season of the competition, where his only loss came against the eventual finalist Vitaliy “Couguar” Roshchin.

Aleksey “GeNieS” Gasanov is a relatively unknown in the CIS SCII scene, seeing how he has not qualified for a single major tournament in his five-year career. One thing GeNieS has going for him is that he usually does well against Terran, but MilkiCow is an entirely different beast to opponents GeNieS usually faces.

We expect MilkiCow to win, but due to his shaky form of late, there is a world where he drops a map. A correct score bet on MilkiCow to win 3-1 might appeal to some, but for us, a bet on the favourite to win with at least two maps to spare will do.

?Dmytro “DIMAGA” Filipchuk and Vitaliy “Nicoract” Mishin last met back in December 2020, when DIMAGA won 2-0 and improved his head-to-head record to 3-2. Although the 34-year-old Ukrainian has done relatively well in his meetings with Nicoract, he enters this match on a six-game losing streak.

Even though most of those losses came against stronger players, losing six straight games must take a toll on DIMAGA’s morale. Nicoract hasn’t done much better of late, seeing how he has won only one game in his last four, but that doesn’t justify the shorter odds.

DIMAGA should be slightly favoured for this match, but we don’t believe he should be priced as low as he is. This match can go either way, so we have to take the better odds on Nicoract.

BLAST Premier Fall 2020 Showdown

Mousesports enter this match on the heels of a ninth-12th finish at Intel Extreme Masters XV Beijing Online: Europe. Despite their relatively low placement, mouz impressed with a win against BIG (2-1) and two close series against G2 Esports (1-2) and Astralis (1-2).

On the other side, things are not looking too bright for GODSENT. They have not played an official match in three week, and they recently downgraded their roster by benching in-game leader Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend in favour of ex-c0ntact coach Luka “?emi?” Vukovi?.

GODSENT would struggle against mouz regardless, but the loss of kRYSTAL makes it very obvious how this game will go.

Even though Cloud9’s roster holds promise, it’s very difficult to side with them over Ninjas in Pyjamas after their losses against OG (0-2) and Virtus.pro (0-2). That is not to say C9 are a lost cause, but they have definitely not impressed thus far.

NiP recently attended IEM Beijing, where they took down G2 Esports (2-1) but lost to Heroic (1-2) and BIG (1-2). Even though NiP did not make it far, it’s hard to be overly critical of their results since they took at least one map off the no.2, no.4 and no.11 teams in the world.

Cloud9’s roster has potential, but as it stands now, that’s all they can offer. NiP have shown a lot more of late and should have no issues securing a clean sweep.

We were a bit sceptical about FaZe Clan’s future after they lost Nikola “NiKo” Kova? to G2 Esports, but they have proved us wrong by reaching the quarter-finals of IEM Beijing. They also swept the eventual champions, Team Vitality, which is nothing to sneeze at.

MiBR recently attended the second season of FLASHPOINT, where they left a lot to be desired. While they managed to defeat Team Envy (2-1) and forZe (2-0), MiBR stood no chance against BIG (1-2).

MiBR do fine against weaker teams, but they lack the quality to compete with the top dogs. While FaZe should win this one with ease, we will play it safe and settle for an outright bet.

Moscow Cybersport Series 2020 – Season 2

Anton “AntonyZerg” Rud has met with Vitaliy “Nicoract” Mishin only once before – back in April at StarLine Junior League Season 3 – when the Russian StarCraft 2 pro swept his Kazakhstani opponent 2-0. Since then, AntonyZerg has played seven games and managed only two wins.

AntonyZerg’s lack of success against big names in the SCII scene does not inspire much confidence, but we are even more concerned with his lack of playtime. In his defence, all of AntonyZerg’s last seven games took place this month, but that does not mean much if we consider Nicoract has played well over 160 fixtures since their last clash.

Expect another 2-0 win for Nicoract.

Vitaliy “Couguar” Roshchin is the higher-rated player (+355), we still feel like Daniil “DeeDan” Aulov is paying way over the odds at StarCraft II betting sites.

The biggest factor that works against Couguar is his lack of playtime. Not only is he 2-4 since late September, but Couguar has only played one fixture in the last 30 days.

On the other side, we are a bit sceptical with DeeDan’s relatively poor 45% win rate. However, at $4.57, he is massively overpriced and worth a shot.
