TEAM WE vs INVICTUS GAMING LPL SUMMER BETTING PREVIEW

Invictus Gaming will play their first fixture of League of Legends Pro League (LPL) Summer 2020 this Friday when they meet Team WE the second week of the split.

Team WE entered the 2020 LPL Summer following a fairly impressive run through the Spring 2020 season, where Jiang “beishang” Zhi-Peng and his team made it to the quarter-finals but lost to eventual finalists Top Esports (1-3) to finish in fifth-sixth place.

Team WE made only one roster change in the offseason, moving mid laner Chen “yimeng” Ming-Yong to the academy roster and promoting Cui “Shanks” Xiao-Jun to the main team. Along with Shanks, WE also brought in coach Chen “Changan” Yu from the academy to work alongside Jung “Noex” Je-seung. Shanks has yet to make his debut with the main roster and is likely to remain as a substitute for Jiang “Teacherma” Chen.

Team WE have already played two games this LPL season. They took down EDward Gaming (2-1) in their opening fixture but followed that up with a humiliating defeat to Suning (1-2) last Sunday. Nevertheless, we have to give some praise to Park “Morgan” Gi-tae, who enters the second week of the split as one of the best-performing top laners in the league.

It remains to be seen how long Morgan will be able to play at this level. His toughest task of the split so far will come this Friday when he faces one of the best top laners in the world, Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok.

Invictus Gaming will make their first appearance in the LPL Summer on Friday, fielding much the same roster they did in the LPL Spring. Their only change during the offseason came at the end of May when the team parted ways with jungler Lu “Leyan” Jue, who left for ViCi Gaming. That won’t change IG’s identity too much, however, as they still have Gao “Ning” Zhen-Ning at their disposal.

While this will be Invictus Gaming’s first match of the new split, we got to see them in action less than two weeks ago when TheShy and co. participated at the Mid-Season Cup. That turned out to be a depressing affair, as we expected a lot more from a team that won the League of Legends World Championship only two seasons ago.

At the first international LoL tournament of the year, IG were seeded into Group B alongside reigning LPL champions JD Gaming, League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) regular-season champions Gen.G and the talented DragonX. They lost all three fixtures, thus ending the tournament as the only team without a single win.

There were not many positives to take from any of Invictus Gaming’s matches at the Mid-Season Cup. TheShy and Ning did not look nearly as dominant as we had expected, while it seems the former is still suffering from consistency issues due to his overly aggressive playstyle.

TEAM WE vs INVICTUS GAMING LPL SUMMER BETTING PREDICTIONS

It’s hard to justify siding with Team WE over Invictus Gaming here, especially after the loss to Suning over the weekend. However, it’s also difficult to trust IG to justify their tag as massive favourites.

Although TheShy and his team won the LPL Spring regular season, IG looked very shaky in the playoffs and later in the Mid-Season Cup. This is a team boasting one of the most talented players in the world, but their performances don’t always show that.

Invictus enter this match on a seven-game losing streak. While they have defeated Team WE in the final week of the LPL Spring, the match was very close, so we have no confidence betting on IG to cover the -1.5 handicap. Team WE were disappointing last time out, but they are more than capable of winning at least one map against the shaky IG here.
