The Valorant teams of some esports organizations look to submit their applications to Riot Games this week. These teams of several organizations across major regions will indicate their interests in becoming a partner team with the game developer.
Selected teams will become a part of the 2023 inaugural partner teams of one of three partnered leagues across different regions of the world.
This stipulates that the Americas league will accommodate about ten teams (not limited to) from the American region, which includes North America, Latin America, and Brazil.
The analogy applies to all regions, and as such, gives all teams from the region a chance to secure a slot. The application ends Friday, June 17, with teams looking to send their entry in to get the opportunity to vie for a partner team slot with the game developer.
Each partner team is eligible to receive a six-figure stipend from Riot Games, with the money possibly going to the payment of wages. According to a report written in May, players in the Americas league earn a minimum of about $50,000 per annum in wages.
Depending on the player’s influence and worth to the team, some players in tier-one esports franchises in North America earn between $10,000 to about $20,000 per month. Players with this earning power, earn within $120,000 to $240,000 per annum.
Along with the application form, organizations are requested to submit their financial details, strategy for content creation, and marketing for the Valorant title. Riot Games have also reached out to organizations not within Valorant to make their applications for next year.
Applicants will be duly communicated if their application has been cleared for the next stage of the partner process in less than six weeks of the close of the application. The approved and accepted partner franchise for the different regions will be announced after the final selection process is concluded after the Champions. The final selection process will commence in the final quarter of the year.
With international leagues becoming the only feasible pathway to international tournaments for teams, some franchises might exit from Valorant. While those organizations that get approved and assigned as partner teams will likely look to make roster changes ahead of the commencement of the league in the first quarter of 2023.
Before Luminosity’s exit from Valorant, Riot had given each franchise a preliminary questionnaire to fill and submit, with acceptance hinged on a screening process. During the period Luminosity esports announced its exit, Riot had accepted some organizations, giving them the go-ahead to send in a formal application. The Luminosity roster will possibly be absorbed soon by another North American organization, but they remain unsigned at this time.
With the Valorant team partnership structure taking effect in the 2023 season, it will begin to take form at the end of the Valorant Champions Tour circuit. The structure will include the formation of three leagues across the Asia, Americas, and Europe regions. From these regions, a select number of teams will advance to the Masters and Champions.
To participate in each of these leagues within the regions, teams will be required to enter into a partnership with Riot. They might also be allowed to collaborate on in-game cosmetics which can be used as the main revenue source for these franchises.
