Gen.G defeated T1 in a stunning 3-0 sweep in the 2022 League of Legends<\/a> Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Finals, which were played over the weekend. The duo rounded off the three-week playoff campaign after facing off as the top two seeds of the region. <\/p>\n

Gen.G came into the clash as red-hot -303.03 favourites with the esports betting sites<\/a>, with T1 at +244 outsider odds. As a result of reaching the decider, both teams qualified for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship.<\/p>\n

The match did have one peculiarity. Before the series kicked off, there was an unforeseen delay due to an unspecified network error. The players and anxious fans were made to wait for the match to begin for more than one hour, and a previous episode of “The POG State” was played to pass the time on the broadcast. <\/p>\n

The broadcast also replayed moments when vignettes hyped the anticipated series. During the rest of the waiting time, casters were called in to review and discuss the history of the two teams preparing for battle. <\/p>\n

When the issue was fixed, the two teams started the first game cautiously, and the carriers from either side began searching for items to give them a leg up in team fights. Making use of Epic objectives, Gen.G were able to amass a lead and had the upper hand in team fights against T1. Game one came to a close when Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk\u2019s Zeri performed a quadra kill.<\/p>\n

Gen.G then closed out game three to give younger teammates like Ruler, Son “Lehends” Si-woo, Choi “Doran” Hyeon-Joon, and Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon their first LCK title. Ruler won the 2017 World Championship with Samsung Galaxy; however, the recent victory was his first domestically. <\/p>\n

The 2022 LoL Worlds<\/a> will kick off on September 29 in Mexico City and come to a close on November 9. Both Gen.G and T1 will represent Korea alongside the LCK’s third seed, which is yet to be decided. <\/p>\n

The third seed from the LCK will join the Worlds group stage and be selected according to their performance in this weekend\u2019s 2022 LCK Regional Finals. The possible teams include KT Rolster, DWG KIA, DRX, and Liiv SANDBOX. <\/p>\n

The team that places second in the Regional Finals will start the 2022 Worlds at the play-in stage. To join the rest of the LCK teams in the group phase, the squad will have to play and win against teams in that competition section.<\/p>\n
